Nothing

by Veronica on January 8, 2009

in Pregnant. Finally.

So, today is day 3 of intermittent contractions and no baby.

Some are more painful than others, but really? Nothing is actually progressing. I suppose the only good thing to be said is that I have had bloody show, so something must be happening down there, right?

The baby has dropped firmly into my pelvis, making breathing so much easier. I will totally take needing to pee eleventy hundred times a day over not being able to breathe any time.

I think I’m more relaxed now. Now that things have at least started to happen, I am able to relax into these last few days (weeks?) lots more easily than a week ago when I couldn’t breathe and everything hurt.

Sure I want to be done sooner rather than later, but I’m embracing the zen, knowing that nothing I do will really move things along unless they are ready to be moved along anyway.

It probably helps that the contractions have been stopping overnight, leaving me to sleep mostly in peace. Hehe.

Head on over to FruitFemme and congratulate her and Scully on the birth of their son, whom I can only assume is gorgeous. A leap into big sisterhood for Khubz!

And it’s that time again. Time for you to nominate your favourite blogs for the Bloggies! There are loads of categories, fitting just about all the blogs you read.

We’ll just blame my pregnancy brain for the complete lack of links when I published this. That and the fact that Amy kept shutting the laptop lid so I was in a hurry to just finish.

Great news that you have had a show and at least some contractions. I hope it all speeds up for you but its also good that you are more ‘zen’ with it happening now. I can remember waiting, waiting, waiting, waiting when I was pregnant with Amy. Two weeks past my due date and I was still waiting. God I hope that doesn’t happen this time! Keep us posted!

I’ m sure bubba will be along soon. I got to attend the birth of my second nephew yesterday. My sis was only 39 weeks and we really weren’t expecting him to come so soon. I hope your little man makes a similarly earlyish entrance, if only to give you a break from getting up to go to the loo every five minutes!

You need to ask Amy how you’re supposed to be able to tell the whole world what a fantastic little girl she is if she keeps closing the lid on the laptop. Perhaps if she understands that this type of behavior LIMITS her face time on the Internet, perhaps she’ll leave it alone. Then again, maybe not.

He he. You said “down there”. He he. Just wait – before you know it, you’ll be thinking about how much easier when baby was still in your “pouch”. See how I slipped that kangaroo reference in there? I’m so incredibly clever.

That’s a lot of something for nothing…. sounds like your body is quietly working away slowly but surely so when things really get going most of the hard work should have been done already! Wishing you a strong, easy labour and birth… I just know it is going to be soon if not already!

That little boy is waiting for cooler weather I suppose. Perhaps if you promised him an icecream? Or a nice cool bath?

you are amazing!!! i’m 34, had my first child in september and have been dipping into your blog since around then and, tho i know age has literally nothin to do with anything, you blow me away, with your calmness, wisdom and clearly excellent mothering skills (to tiny humans and animals alike!)…if i do half as well as you seem to when my son is amy’s age, i’ll be a very happy mum! thank you so much for all your insights & your wicked sense of humour, enjoy breathing and peeing (!) and wishing you the very best for the coming hopefully-hours-or-days-but-not-weeks!

How’s this working for you? Any baby yet? Boy howdy I don’t envy you, though I do love babies far more than I am loving teenagers right about now! I hope you’re getting plenty of rest, as we both know you really will have sleepless nights very soon!

Good luck to you! I hope to see pictures of the new baby as soon as you’re able to post them!
