And the baby is a …..

by Veronica on April 16, 2012

in Pregnant. Finally.

A baby! Well formed, with no cause for concern.

Also incredibly wiggly, making the job of snapping pictures very difficult for the radiologists who were on call.

She’s also very much a little girl, which will make Amy happy once I tell her.

Isaac is refusing to hear anything about it however – it appears he wanted a brother.

In other news, my hot water cylinder died last night, and DESPITE having a 7 year warranty, will not be covered because it’s an electrical problem with the cylinder, not a leak. Only leaky cylinders get seven years of warranty.

At least, that is what Dux told us this morning, when Nathan rang to enquire about getting it fixed, as it isn’t even three years old yet.

This seems utterly ridiculous to me and I am torn between wanting to stamp my feet and complain about the job the plumbing company did installing it, and wanting to complain about the company that makes the bloody thingΒ  and then refuses to cover fixing it when it dies.

The prospect of having no hot water doesn’t appeal to me right now and we’re left waiting for an electrician to come up and have a look at things, before hopefully telling us that the problem is easily fixed and unlikely to cost extravagant amounts of money.

Until then, you will find me boiling kettles of water and bathing in a bucket – reminders of my childhood.

Fun times, you guys, fun times.

Yays for healthy baby, all else is gravy.

I have visions of you washing in one bucket with another bucket for the baby bump.

Fingers crossed it is a cheap and easy fix for the hot water.

Tam April 16, 2012 at 12:55 pm

Naw, congrats on the healthy girl baby!

Warranties suck balls sometimes. Seriously. Hope it’s an easy (cheap) fix.

Jess April 16, 2012 at 1:00 pm

tassie_gal April 16, 2012 at 1:04 pm

What no twins? I am disappointed! πŸ˜› Seriously though, YAH FOR LITTLE GIRLS!

Danielle April 16, 2012 at 1:06 pm

Awww Amy will be over the moon, Congratulations. Don’t you just hate bloody fine prints and warrenty’s, they are so full of loop holes to save there own arses that it’s pointless even having them. Fingers and toes crossed is fixed quickly and cheaply for you.

Erica J April 16, 2012 at 1:07 pm

No hot water is a pain, but it makes you appreciate the finer things we take for granted!

And, eeeeep! Healthy baby girl! Yay! Congrats!! πŸ˜€

Ali April 16, 2012 at 5:37 pm

Lovely to hear she has all her bits in the right place. It’s so exciting, I am ridiculously broody I shouldn’t even be allowed to read about them! x

Sharon A. April 16, 2012 at 5:38 pm

Aw, how sweet, a little girl! Congrats! I hope your hot water gets fixed up quickly, what a nightmare, especially as it’s getting colder

river April 16, 2012 at 9:14 pm

a girl! I knew it!
I don’t see the difference between an electrical fault and a leaky cylinder.
The water heater is faulty, only three years old, the company should fix it.
Go over their heads and complain to management, manufacturer, consumer affairs, your local MP, any one at all who will listen, make a fuss. It’s not like you went out with an axe and smashed it.

Fine April 16, 2012 at 10:01 pm

Yay, so glad all is well with the little one – congrats!
Hope that your wishes regarding the hot water cylinder come true!

Watershedd April 16, 2012 at 10:02 pm

Glad to hear all is well with you and the impending arrival. hope the winter’s chill hold’s off a wee bit until the water heater is repaired. Damn annoying. Had the same problem when I moved into my unit for about 2 weeks. Brrrr!

edenland April 16, 2012 at 10:07 pm

A GIRL. That’s fantastic. When people would ask me do I know what it is, I’d say, “Well, we’re REALLY hoping it’s a baby. But we’re fine with a kitten, too!”

God I hope you have hot water by now.

Happy Elf Mom April 16, 2012 at 10:39 pm

OK! So. You have baby names starting with A and I already checked off the list. Left to have are E, O and U. Maybe Y if you have another after that. πŸ™‚

Isaac will come around. Hugs to you all!

Arienette April 16, 2012 at 11:07 pm

YAY! I had SUCH a feeling it was a little girl.
Sucks about the cylinder. Can you phone them up and be all pregnant and cry at them? That’s what I tended to do. Few people can be hearltess in the face of preggo tears.

Tanya April 17, 2012 at 1:53 pm

YAY! Your mummy instinctys were right. Much love xx

Multiblogging Mum April 18, 2012 at 8:45 am

YAY Congratulations on the news of a healthy baby…

Drat on the water cylinder…
Sounds like the issue we have just had where the electrician who did our new switchboard box thingy, didn’t check our earth.. turned out we didn’t have a earth to the back of the house !!!
When they were here fixing that I asked them to fix a power point… $155 bill for the power point!!
Feels like he got a bit nary about it…
Good luck with it all!!
