In both marriages we rarely discussed money issues. Looking back now, I wish we had especially in the first marriage. But when I was growing up we kids never ever heard anything about money, how it was earned, how it was to be spent, not a thing. I didn’t realise these things were discussed. Of course we knew dad worked and got paid, mum shopped and spent, but that was pretty much all we knew. I thought that was how things were supposed to be done. We knew that other kids had pocket money (not many kids) but how or why they had it we didn’t know. I’m horrified now at the ignorance I was raised in.
