Sheesh, They Are DOORS People!

in Life

Well here I am with a moment to myself.

Somehow taking all this time off means I am beating myself up about blogging a whole lot less. I mean, who cares if my stats are down by 20 today, I mean, REALLY?

And who cares if THAT post got 10 less comments than THIS post?

To be honest? A fortnight ago I did. Now, I feel a whole lot more relaxed about it. I’m enjoying the blog again.

(Maybe knowing that I already failed Blog365 has taken all the pressure off?)

So anyway, here are more photos.

This is the mess in the old ramshackle chookshed. Neither Nathan nor I have been game enough to do anything more than look at it and grimace. It smells like something has died in there (I think it is fertiliser) and frankly, until I have some mean-assed gloves and a full-face mask I just don’t want to go there.

We are not going to talk about how the previous owners were supposed to take all this crap with them. Maybe they thought that we wouldn’t notice the (large and in plain view) shed? Or then again, after noting the state of the house, maybe they just didn’t give a fuck.

This is Amy’s favourite thing (right after my boobs of course). The Slide. (cue choir of angels here) She walks up to it and very carefully climbs the steps (that are about 2 inches to big for her to reach comfortably). When she reaches the top (with me hovering and ‘helping’ as much as is necessary) she stands and claps. And stomps. WITHOUT holding onto anything. Then she sits down and leans as far forward as she possibly can; in the hope that she wall magically become unstuck from the seat and slide down the slide.

It never works.

Sometimes she will stand back up and jump at me.

Mostly she just sits there leaning forwards until I rescue her poor little stuck bum and let her slide.

See how we are missing all the proper swings? Yeah, they took them. Don’t ask me why, the weirdos also took the interior doors.

I mean, I just assumed that DOORS are kind of included when you buy the house? Am I right? Doors! Sheesh people, did you really need them that badly?

At least they didn’t take the carpet.

Ree March 13, 2008 at 11:52 pm

They took the doors? The interior doors? In the U.S., I think that would be illegal. Anything “permanently” affixed to the interior (light fixtures, built in appliances, um, walls!) are included unless otherwise noted in the purchase agreement.

Not to mention, that’s just freakin’ weird!

wow, sounds like the previous owners were a bit… weird! What sort of person takes doors eh!? >_<
Still, at least it’s YOUR house 🙂

Yeah, what Ree said. Before we put our house up for sale, I’m going to be spending weeks taking down light fixtures and other stuff that’s attached to the house. If I don’t, we have to leave it with the house. And no, nobody is getting my dragonfly stained glass light, thankyouvermuch.

They took the doors and left the mess, charming. Maybe the bogan neighbours thought they brought the neighbourhood down.

That would be SO illegal here in the States. I bet it is there, as well. The doors, thing, I mean. I’m not sure about the swings, though. But they TOOK THE SWINGS!!???!!! WTF. Perhaps they needed them in the monkey cage they must have moved into.

WHAT THE FUCK, THE DOORS?

YOU DON’T TAKE THE DOORS WHEN YOU SELL A HOUSE!

Never trust people when you move into a house!! I learned that the hard way!! I mean why would someone take the toilet paper holder and leave it looking like they hadn’t cleaned in about 6 months right? I’m sorry you have to deal with that!

Jennifer March 14, 2008 at 6:05 am

Oh no they dint! The doors????? What???

Geez.

And the first part of your post about stats/comments/blogging…I completely understand. I have such a love/hate/adore/despise relationship with my blog. Somedays I think blogging is great! Other days I’m so bummed and discouraged.

You’re kidding! The doors? That’s just insane?
And the swings? That’s just bizarre!
I’m also having a love/hate relationship with my blogs… and I’m mad enough to have 2!

The Dutch REGULARLY take light bulbs, door handles, letter boxes, ANYTHING that they might sometime ever in a galaxy far far away be able to use or sell.

Gits.

Ugh! How frustrating! Some people are just so clueless! It completely baffles me sometimes! Haha – but it made me laugh, thinking that may be they didn’t think you’d notice.

I meant to say the other day: What a view! And it’s yours!!

The doors? Oh my! Also, I deleted stats programs a while back, so that I never know how many people are coming or not going from my site. It’s made me a lot happier with my blog. My husband and I once had people take the toilets from a home we purchased. (I know, I know..long story.)

Tasina March 14, 2008 at 11:26 am

Uhhh. I took doors. But there’s a reason. Because the people who owned BEFORE us walled up the spot where the doors were. So they weren’t in use. And these were antique with mullioned windows. If we ever buy a house, we’ll find a place for them.

Wow, that’s pretty lovely for you there. Definitely illegal in the States to take anything on the inside that isn’t distinctly excluded from the contract.

Not that it will make you feel any better, but you’re not the only one with odd things taken. Our house has a huuuuuuuuuuuge tree in the backyard where the previous owners had hung a swing from a really long rope. It was there when we did the inspection. When we came after they have moved out, they had cut down the (cheap) swing and left the rope dangling from the tree.

Plus, there was a shed in the backyard (walkout basement, so the land slopes on our whole lot). When they removed all their lawnmowers and God knows what else, the shed started to lean backwards. Every day, it leaned further and further back until we had to knock it down (by professionals because the neighborhoods electric box thing was about 3 feet behind it grrrrr). They’d just taken a pile of rocks to “make it level” and put the shed atop it and used the weight of whatever they’d stored in the shed to keep it stable. Unfortunately, all exterior items aren’t considered part of what you’re buying, so no recourse for us and we still have no new shed and one car parked in the driveway 🙂

Good luck getting it all fixed up — silver lining, you can buy the doors you’ve always dreamed of?

Huh. I would’ve thought doors would be included, too. Much like, you know, walls and floors. They left the roof, though, right?

I wish you courage for dealing with the mess in the shed. I think it would take us years to get around to that. (At least assuming we could keep the door to the shed closed. Though that may not be the case for you. I mean, having a door to keep closed.)

OMG! the Doors and swings???? What a bunch of loonies! That would so be illegal here it the U.S. Our sellers had to ask us if they could take the curtain rods with them before they moved out. Glad to hear Amy’s enjoying the new place!

Doors are relatively cheap. You don’t want their stinky arsed doors anyway.

Probably needed them to make a lean to house in the bush. And the swing seats to park their freaky arses on.

GARETH March 14, 2008 at 7:47 pm

Do you have to sign a list of contents and fittings, that the seller, has to abide by ?? in the UK we do, , if the stuff is missing, you can claim, but not always successfully, and people over take the lightbulbs, or cut the light cords even !! sad people !!

river March 14, 2008 at 9:25 pm

Took your doors did they? Well at least your house is nice and breezy…..
You could chase them through the agent and they would have to pay for replacement doors. A friend of mine once bought a house with a lovely new dishwasher, when she moved in they’d taken it with them and installed a rusted out old clunker in it’s place. She got on to the agent who luckily remembered the new dishwasher and the previous owners had to cough up for a new one and pay to have it installed.
On the other hand you might prefer to go shopping and choose your own doors.

Cat March 14, 2008 at 10:10 pm

The Amy slide story is SO cute!

And I’m still o.O over the doors! Too bad they didn’t take their paint job with them…?!

They took the inside doors?
Mh, sure they are not hiding somewhere in that barn or somewhere else?

Tara March 15, 2008 at 10:38 am

ROTFLOL The DOORS??!!?? Maybe they were just huge fans of the band and couldn’t bear to leave them.

Love the slide! My kids just got one recenlty, too, although it is currently “closed” b/c it is too fast and both have done major nose dives. Poor boy had dirt up both nostrils that took two days to drain out!

Leslie March 17, 2008 at 3:40 am

This makes me think of the movie “Moving” with Richard Pryor. They’re touring the house and commenting, “Oh, we love the windows! The pool is great! That staircase is beautiful!” and the owner’s keep saying, “You like that? Well, it’s too bad we’re taking it with us!” And they all laugh. When they finally move in, the previous owners actually took all that stuff with them – it’s gone! Funny in the movie – not so funny for you.

As for the blog worries, I’m learning to get over mine, too. I’m so close to the end of my pregnancy and way to tired to keep at it like usual. My stats are suffering. My comments are low. I even debated just throwing in the towel. But, I really love my website. I love to blog. I’ve just had to adjust my thinking a little. I’m gonna do it for me and if people dig it, that’s cool. At least I’m trying to. I still can’t help but check the stats and compare comment numbers. It looks like you’re doing pretty good to me, Veronica! No worries!
