Sick, but feeling okay.

Well apparently I’ve got pneumonia. Whodathunkit?

The doctor gave me a script for steroids, as well as a script for antibiotics and asthma puffers. Let me just say, steroids (prednisone) are great fun.

It might make you a bit manic, says the doctor.

A bit manic? I feel like I’m bouncing off the walls. I haven’t had this much energy since I was a kid drinking cola.

The upside of that, it that I can also breathe. Quite well in fact.

The downside of that is that prednisone masks all the infection symptoms, so while I feel okay, I’ve got no idea if I’m actually getting better.

I think I am. I hope I am.

It was lucky I saw him when I did though, he told me I would have been in hospital by last night and seemed a little surprised that I hadn’t already gone to emergency, seeing as how my fingertips went blue and I couldn’t breathe very well at all.

Not being able to breathe is sort of a big deal.

But anyway, I’m on the mend! (I think)

Also, apparently some emails I’ve been sent have bounced? If you like, you can resend them, I think the email is working again. It appears to be a server issue, so we’re just waiting for them to fix it.

You poor girl! Such a mum thing to do, hold off on the Dr until you are just about dead! Lucky you finally went. Hope you’re feeling better soon, & there is someone to help out with kids?

Isn’t it typical of a mother to wait until she is so ill before seeking help! Your hands are full girl – I do hope you’re feeling much better by now. Take it easy, you need to put yourself first SOMETIMES! :) Hope Amy is doing better too!

Bouncing off the walls? I’d like to see that…sounds like fun. Not. Anyway, I’m glad you went to the doctor, next time go BEFORE your fingertips go blue, okay? Hopefully everyone is getting better now?

Well, I’m glad you made it to the doctor’s even though it was only just in the nick of time! Hubby spent a week in hospital with pneumonia a couple of years ago, it wasn’t much fun. Thankfully the antibiotics work quite quickly (he started off on IV ones though) but it was quite a few weeks before his energy levels were anything vaguely approaching normal. Rest, rest and more rest . . . hmmm can you see that happening? Take care Veronica, and get as much help as possible.

mmm just replied to your mail and your server must be down as it keeps sending it back – one of those permanent delivery failure notification thingys. I agree with everyone else – rest rest rest and rest again. Having just had viral pneumonia followed by the dreaded pleurisy myself after flu, I insist that you put ‘you’ first and that is an order all the way from the UK!!

Reiterating what they all said Take care!!!!!!

Typical mother. Taking care of the kids, managing everything else and just soldiering on when you are practically DYING!

Oh my goodness! I’m glad to hear you made it to the doctor in time. Yes, breathing is important. Glad to hear the prednisone is helping you do it.

Rest up and hang in there. *hugs*

the downside being you are now ruled out of the olympics.

  21. Loretta says

Glad you’re feeling better at least. Prednisone induces Turrett’s-like symptoms in my mama. She swears a lot, and every time she does she grins like a mischevious kid and laughs. Good times.

  22. Jeanette Bolvary says

I’m very sorry you’ve got pneumonia. The steroids will strengthen your lungs, make sure you get plenty of rest. Hope you get better soon.

  23. Jayne says

Is there any link between EDS and any respiratory difficulties?
