It fucking shits me when people go on A Current Affair to whinge about their post baby body. To talk about the pressure put on new mothers to lose their baby weight. To have a fucking complain because the celebrities lost their baby weight so fast.
They assume that celebrites have personal trainers and specialised diets to lose the baby weight and I will be the first to admit, alot probably do.
But they are celebrities! What kind of basis do they have in real life? Do they have to worry about paying the bills? No! Do they think about what to cook for dinner? Of course not! So why the fuck are we, as women, looking to them to see how we should look post baby.
Some people do lose the baby weight very very fast. I did, but that was probably because I didn’t gain any weight to begin with. My diet plan? Not recommended. Do not try the ‘too sick to eat whilst pregnant’ diet plan. Yes, it may work, but trust me, it will take months to feel better. I also accredit my bounce back to my age (17 bounces back heaps better than 35), my body type (I was prone to being underweight, not overweight) and my metabolism (again 17 vs 35). Certainly not to my diet (lamingtons and cordial at 3am, enough chocolate to sink a ship) or to exercise (it took me 3mths to even think about going for walks).
And to the woman who said
It’s not just about losing the weight, women may find that their body has been changed by pregnancy. You might have stretch marks and other stuff.
Of course your body has been changed by having a baby. You can’t stretch to accommodate a 3kg+ baby and not fucking notice it afterwards. Are you stupid? Stretch marks, saggy breasts, cracked nipples, hemorrhoids, panda eyes, it’s all par for the fucking course!
If you think your body is going to look identical to before once you lose the weight, then you are sitting with your head in the clouds of post baby fug. You have changed! Your body has changed! Fat or thin, with or without stretchmarks, breast or bottle, no matter what you do you will look different.
If you are normal you will feel different! Motherhood provides us with so many new challenges, the last thing we need to be doing is wishing for and working toward a pre-baby body.
You spent 9 months being a house, you created a life! You are a miracle worker, no matter what your shape or size.
Okay rant over.

the developement of a baby is beautiful..
the pics are great..
i still love Amy’s blue eyes..
Hmmmm I see you feel strongly,
I lost the weight reasonably quickly after my second and I attribute that to: breastfeeding, running after a toddler, going on the fit-for-life diet, oh and giardia.

Hear, Hear! ANd you look great in all those photos.
V-I think there are many things that celebrities do that we should ignore, well, actually mostly everything.
You know what always makes me feel better? Looking at David Beckham semi-clothed. “No, David…please don’t speak…just let me look at you.”
Okay, well I laughed my ass off while reading this. It’s funny because it’s true.
And I totally don’t understand why my skinny pants fit me now and my other pants don’t. wwwweeeird
Totally agree! And I think you look fabulous now!!
I’m not even gonna dip my toe into the whole weight & women thing as I just would not come out alive !
just wanted to say those pics are smashing, the first is a lovely warming shot and babbas eyes are amazing.
agree with everything you’ve said there!
I think there’s always a different ‘look’ to someone who’s become a mum – even if they are the same size, wear the same clothes… there’s a different air to them I suppose, suddenly you understand things a lot better – with regards to your own parents, other children you see around you… that new mother will have a whole new perspective on things an THAT will always show through.
Speaking from my standpoint over here in the US, as a society, we make it a common practice to judge ourselves based on what “the beautiful people” are up to. It’s sick in all cases, but it’s common.
Pregnant or not, we never feel good enough because of the constant images that are pounded into us everywhere we go, of unrealistic, idealized fakies.
*sigh*
You look awesome, V. Hope your health is/will soon be matching your beauty.
Thankyou for the insight. I havent yet experienced it, something to look forward to (!)
It looks pretty hard being pregnant from watching my sister in law go through it. In doing anything she spent most of her time sitting on the floor as she couldn’t bend. She was very moody, going from grumpy to ecstatic (from the annoyance of the big belly to remembering what was inside) But I swear she glowed the whole time.
It does something to men as well, they become very proud. Great to see.
The photo of you and Nath is beautiful, you both look like you are glowing…
My left arse cheek is called Moo.
My right one Too
and my blubbery belly is Boo.
That way I get to carry my babies around with me at all times….
Kelley ‘I still carry ALL my baby weight’ chunky mummy.
Have to agree.
On all counts.
You do look great in all of those photos though.
I am still carying all of my baby weight post Ivy and Noah.
It could have something to do with being housebound for the last two years. It could have something to do with blogging all the time… who knows.
The twins love my squishy bits! They snuggle right in!
