We were lucky enough to be treated to a sky show of lights this evening. It’s possible I will update this post with more photos if the lights return again. I’m in the Southern Midlands of Tasmania and the conditions were perfect. Icy cold and so so clear.
The Aurora is simply fantastic.
See more Sunday Selections here.
Beautiful pics… I didnt know this was happening…
Wow, I had no idea you could see this from Tassie!
Fantastic! Candy, it used to be visible from Melbourne at times, but light pollution has probably stopped that.
Amazing to my northen hemisphere French eyes!
WOW these are just stunning!
I’m rather jealous… I’ve yet to see the northern lights up here… one day!
Seeing the Aurora Borealis is one of my top ten bucket list items. Lucky.
PS: I dreamed The Bean brought home some baby chicks that were 1/3 baby chick, 1/3 baby bunny, and 1/3 baby ducks. CUTEST THING EVER. My first thought was – AHA! I have to take a picture of these and out-cute Veronica!
Amazing photos Veronica.
Wow.
Wow, amazing and beautiful.
o..mg! That is so spectacular…I too had know idea you could see it in Tassie.

I wonder if we get these in canberra any years. Looks amazing!
Great photos. I was lucky enough to see the auroa very faintly from Geelong in the late 1980s.
I miss seeing the Aurora. Looks like a very spectacular one last night. Just beautiful.
Oh wow! That’s gorgeous!
so pretty
Amazing! Im in Tassie and missed it! Must have been sleeping. What time did the show start last night, I will be sure to stay up tonight with my eyes at the sky
We saw it first at about 9.10pm – not sure how long it had been going at that point.
That is totally amazing. Nice photography and awesome colours!
Thanks for the info. Im in Dodges Ferry. Hopefully the clouds will clear up a bit and the lights come back. I will have the camera and tripod ready 🙂
I’m hoping the same thing!
Simply Magnificent
So, so beautiful. And aweinspiring. And amazing. And …
Wow – I haven’t seen an Aurora in years. Beautiful!
Thanks for sharing.
Your photos are amazing! I didn’t know you could see Aurora from Tasmania either. Lucky you!
Wow! Truly magnificent. Ethereal.
Ok I am massively overwhelmingly jealous. The nearest we get to the lights is the calendar I have of them on the kitchen wall for 2011. So as you can see I have a bit of thing about them. So off I trot overwhelmed that you actually really saw them. Wow wow wow.. Best Sunday Selections ever ever ever…..
Very beautiful! I’ve never imagined the southern aurora. I have experienced the aurora borealis from Barrow, Alaska back in the 70’s, but did not have a camera. I remember it as a lively shimmering curtain of many colors. Your greens are lovely.
Oh wow, what a magical sight. You lucky person!
This is what I miss about living in the far north.
Wow – we’re heading down to Tassie soon so we’ll look out for it! Beautiful! xx
You’re so lucky. It’s one of my great dreams to see the aurora borealis, I should just make a well-timed trip to Tas instead. Those photos are amazing.
