Sheesh, They Are DOORS People!

Well here I am with a moment to myself.

Somehow taking all this time off means I am beating myself up about blogging a whole lot less. I mean, who cares if my stats are down by 20 today, I mean, REALLY?

And who cares if THAT post got 10 less comments than THIS post?

To be honest? A fortnight ago I did. Now, I feel a whole lot more relaxed about it. I’m enjoying the blog again.

(Maybe knowing that I already failed Blog365 has taken all the pressure off?)

So anyway, here are more photos.

This is the mess in the old ramshackle chookshed. Neither Nathan nor I have been game enough to do anything more than look at it and grimace. It smells like something has died in there (I think it is fertiliser) and frankly, until I have some mean-assed gloves and a full-face mask I just don’t want to go there.

We are not going to talk about how the previous owners were supposed to take all this crap with them. Maybe they thought that we wouldn’t notice the (large and in plain view) shed? Or then again, after noting the state of the house, maybe they just didn’t give a fuck.

This is Amy’s favourite thing (right after my boobs of course). The Slide. (cue choir of angels here) She walks up to it and very carefully climbs the steps (that are about 2 inches to big for her to reach comfortably). When she reaches the top (with me hovering and ‘helping’ as much as is necessary) she stands and claps. And stomps. WITHOUT holding onto anything. Then she sits down and leans as far forward as she possibly can; in the hope that she wall magically become unstuck from the seat and slide down the slide.

It never works.

Sometimes she will stand back up and jump at me.

Mostly she just sits there leaning forwards until I rescue her poor little stuck bum and let her slide.

See how we are missing all the proper swings? Yeah, they took them. Don’t ask me why, the weirdos also took the interior doors.

I mean, I just assumed that DOORS are kind of included when you buy the house? Am I right? Doors! Sheesh people, did you really need them that badly?

At least they didn’t take the carpet.

It’s Like Having Two Toddlers…

by Veronica on March 12, 2008

…and a pissy teenager in the house.

new-house-040.JPGI am talking about having Amy, Seven and The Cat (who is still nameless) all running around my house like they live here or something.

Amy doesn’t want a toy until Seven has it.

Seven doesn’t want a toy until Amy is playing with it.

Then they chase each other around the house, alternating who is chasing who. It always ends in tears and toy confiscation.

Needless to say, I feel like I am constantly mediating. Add The Cat to the mix, and we have a mess. A loud, rough and tumble, crying mess.

The Cat hisses and spits at Seven, who then barks at The Cat, which in turn makes Amy collapse into a small sobbing bundle.

Amy screams, so Seven barks, so The Cat hisses. Round and round it goes. (Unfortunately this one woke Nathan who yelled at the dog, which in turn made Amy cry harder. Go figure.)new-house-036.JPG

And then we have the nappy changing. Seven thinks that nappy changing time is perfect for jumping on Amy. Amy disagrees. I disagree. Seven jumps some more, Amy wiggles and Seven decides that pulling her hair is a good game.

Of course, this brings Amy to immediate tears, Seven gets sat in the corner away from us, in disgrace and Amy decides that BOOBS! are the only thing that will make her feel *sob* happy again, so we feed her before putting a nappy on. Lather rinse repeat.

However, puppy training is going well. We haven’t had any accidents inside today and she comes when I call about 3/4 of the time. You know, unless there is something so! much! more! FUN! than me, IE: The Cat and Sevens harassment of said cat.

If she is bothering the cat (a sure way to make me entirely stressed) and barking, I can just assume that calling her WILL NOT work. At all.

Closing the door so that Seven is forced to bear the repercussions of biting The Cat’s tail is a sure way to get her back inside though.

I did manage to get outside though and let Seven and Amy play in the large amount of space we have. I spent the whole time making sure Amy didn’t fall of the slide (that she has a penchant for standing at the top of and clapping and foot stomping, before declaring ‘Mummeeee!’ and jumping at me. Heart stopping antics.) and that Seven didn’t eat the pegs/chase the kittens/disappear over to the (very very bogan) neighbours/run onto the road or any number of other things that Amy has never thought of doing.

Yet.

I’m Back!

by Veronica on March 11, 2008

Well hey! I am back and I am using my own computer! Now how is that for pretty good? I also have photos for you guys.

Somehow, I have found myself with not enough time to catch up on everything I have missed. Amy and Nathan seem to have gotten used to me actually talking and cooking and playing and not fiddling on the puter. Given that Amy isn’t going to bed until 8pm, I seem to have less time than ever.

Anyways, the photos.

I do love the house, don’t get me wrong. We knew we were buying a renovators delight when we signed the papers and I love that this house is ours, to do with what we will.

new-house-018.JPG

This is the light switch for the dining room. Bear in mind that it sits about a foot over my head and I need to stand on tiptoes to reach it. I wonder what I would have done if I was short? Also, see those screws and nails? They are doing approximately nothing. As soon as we get a chance we will remove them.

new-house-025.JPG

The colour scheme is pretty awful. Coupled with the wobbly floors, it *may* be enough to make some people seasick.

new-house-022.JPG

I mean honestly? Who thinks that blue, pink and purple (in these particular shades) are nice? Ick! (Also, trust me, the purple is much ickier when it is most all your loungeroom.)

Yes, we do have plans to paint eventually. Probably next summer, because then Amy will be older and able to stay with her Grandparents for the duration. Also, because painting with all the windows and doors shut because it is cold? Not fun and not good for you.

There are some amazing things though, this is the ceiling in half of the loungeroom.

new-house-027.JPG

Isn’t it gorgeous? The other half of the ceiling has been painted so that you can’t see the boards, but we will eventually fix that.

Tomorrow I promise I won’t be talking about the house so much (and I have a bunch of photos saved for my Weekly Winners), but for now, here is the puppy.

new-house-008.JPG

After we got home that day, we ended up renaming her Seven. Not for any reason, just because it suits her. We rescued her from the dogs home and she is about 8 weeks old. Obviously because we rescued her, we don’t know entirely what breed she is, so we will wait and see what she looks like when she is a bit older. The staff said they thought she was a terrier X daschund, but she doesn’t really have any major characteristics yet.

Except for chewing her way through the PS2 controller cord. Twice. While it was being used. *sigh*

There will be more tomorrow, I promise.

PS. Have I missed anything major at anyones place recently? My reader have 650+ items and my dialup can’t handle it. Mark all as read is looking pretty good actually, but I haven’t been able to bring my self to do it yet.

I’m All Out of Practise!!!

by Veronica on March 8, 2008

in Life

Hi!

Sadly, I still have no phone or internet *cries* and sitting down typing this feels a bit strange! I have forgotten how! (not really)
BUT! I thought you all might be missing me and need a bit of an update (wow, has anyone else noticed, adjusting to someone elses keyboard is hard work?) so I need to say thankyou to Mum for a) letting me use her computer and b) watching Amy while I do so.

Amy has been sleeping through the night every second night or so (can we say WOW!?). I’m not entirely sure WHY, but hey, you will hear no complaints from me! Maybe it is because the new house has paper thin walls and she has no choice but to sleep through the noise? Who knows.

The house needs alot of work. Luckily most of the jobs are small and can be done by us. The bathroom is a bit of a shambles with the pump inside (Mum mentioned this, tank water needs a pump to get to my taps) but since Dad and a friend fixed it, it is much better.

The laundry is in the bathroom as well as it being the only space to put my big chest freezer, so currently there is standing room only. BUT! I have a bathtub! I haven’t had a bathtub for 3+ years. It is lovely.

The unpacking went well, everything is just about where is needs to stay. I need more bookshelves though *sigh* Do you think my books are procreating overnight?

I *should* have internets back on Tuesday (it seems so far away *cry*) and then I will be able to read my emails and look at all my comments. As it is, I am saving reading them until I have time and leisure to read them properly.

Even more exciting than that? We got a puppy today. Amy has promptly named her ‘Buttons’ and the name seems to have stuck. (Still am not sure if Amy was pointing at the Pup or at her tummy. Never mind)

Photos will be produced as soon as I have internet at home.

Miss you all!

The Move

by Veronica on March 3, 2008

in Life

The move went quite well with no big dramas, except for the fact that I will be unable to get my phone connected anytime soon.

*sigh*

I promise, I am dying with no internets!

I am borrowing Mum’s computer at the moment, so I have no access to my email or anything like that.

Hope everything is well with everyone. Drop me a line if there is a spectacular post of yours I have missed reading because I am sure ‘Mark all as Read’ will be looking really good when I get back.

Normal posting will resume as soon as possible.

For now, I’m out.

Beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeppp.
