If you’re following me on twitter, you might have seen this tweet from earlier today.
Which involved this:
And a whole lot of internal swearing.
Not our fault – not the lady whom we hit’s fault either. Instead, it was a truck who caused the accident and then drove off, without checking on anything.
We’re really lucky, a witness stopped and waited for the police to arrive. He’d seen the whole thing, including the truck not giving way and the fact that we had no where to go.
I’m still shaky and so incredibly annoyed. The other lady’s insurance should pay for everything to be fixed (fingers crossed).
But, it’s stress I didn’t want or need and really, I’d just like to get through ONE tax time, without something major fucking up, or breaking, or dying, or needing to have lots of money spent on it.
Is that too much to ask?
Also, I know cars are designed to crumple, but considering the collision happened with our speedo showing no speed on it (so maybe, 2km an hour – we could see the truck driver being a dickhead and Nat reacted accordingly) – isn’t that rather a lot of damage to our car?

Crap, Veronica, I’m glad to hear none of you were hurt (((hugs))).
And, yeah, some truck drivers are wanker cowboys behind the wheel, have seen similar things happen here in Melb when I used to drive, total laziness and lack of consideration.
Glad you’re OK. Car accidents are so annoying after you get over the initial shock and anger. Dealing with insurance, with panel beaters, not having your car for a while. But it’s just that – annoying…. It’ll be fine… poor car, though…..
((HUGS))
How scary, Glad no one was hurt!
So glad you guys are okay. It is definitely worthy of loads of swearing. As someone else said once the shock is over it’s the crap you have to deal with afterwards. And what an arsewipe not stopping. Frustrating.
Oh bugger, what bad luck, thank goodness you guys are ok but so sorry for the massive hassles….
Yikes! The car looks bad but at least you’re all safe. Hope the repair and dealing w/ the insurance company goes smoothly.
glad you are all ok. People forget they should drive to conditions and truck drivers think they own the friggin road!
fuck.
That happens to us all the time… washing machine died, clothes line blew over, MPS got a fine… all added up to Boo’s disability supplement.
LOVE YOU!
x
Oh that sucks! Glad you are all ok.
Glad you are all okay. Did anyone get the licence plate number of the truck? He should be the one paying since it’s his fault. Is the car driveable? Can you get a loan car while yours is being repaired? Some cars crumple so easily, I suspect they’re made from aluminium foil!
No, he had driven off to fast, however the witness had the name of the company that was on the truck, so police are following that up. Car is driveable, but we’d prefer not to risk it. We’ve borrowed a car from my inlaws (thank god for them) until our car is fixed.
Oh that is scary and horrible 🙁 I’m sorry
So glad you are all okay though.
hope it is all sorted real soon. cheers, Wendy
oh dammit 🙁
Bugger! Sorry Veronica. That sucks x
Oh my. That IS a lot of damage. I’m glad you’re all okay! No wonder you’re a bit shaken. Fingers crossed for you on the insurance. Bloody truckie.
x
Big hugs to you all. I’m glad none of you were hurt…hope it doesn’t flare up your EDS too much BG Xx
FUCK.
So glad you’re all ok. *hugs* xx
So sorry. Not what anyone needs. No-fault car accident = loads of nuisance and horrible inconvenience…
Happened to me, Feb 2010. rear-ended whilst stationary at light. Had baby GRd in her rear facing car seat. She was fine. Her mum (in front) OK but I was so cross and annoyed..
It’s a RED light, idiot …I have stopped.
So, we both pull over to grass on side of road. Exchange details. I took photos.
His details: phone number licence. address.name. NO insurance. Made sure I wrote that all down.
My insurer covered it all including a rental car. Got a letter recently from my insurer, they still could not track this man down…I found his licence details in my files…now they can chase him up.
Oh, btw, his van was used for “airport transfers” NO comprehensive insurance…Eeek.
Ugg, so sorry…But glad you’re all ok!!
That’s a nasty damage. But glad no one was hurt.
So sorry to hear that, V. Having had a social media free day yesterday, I totally missed it. Hugs to you.
Cars just weren’t built like they were in the old days. Even the slightest bump seems to cause major damage these days.
As far as the truck driver, just have faith in karma! xx
Good, hope the company can figure out who did this and you will be able to move on. I’m glad everyone is ok, what a pain with the car being out for a bit… but… what a way to meet this other lady, eh? 😛
Hope it is all sorted with a minimum of stress for you. How scary and inconvenient , lucky no one was injured.
