Merry Christmas.

in Life

After a long and exhausting day (but fun, very fun), my house is quiet. It’s 7.40pm and while I can hear Amy playing quietly in her bedroom, everyone else is sleeping.

I repeat, my house is quiet. You’ve got no idea how rare this is.

It’s probably the best Christmas present I could have gotten.

So to all my bloggy friends who celebrate Christmas: Merry Christmas. I hope your day was full of good food, good company and good cheer.

To everyone who reads here who doesn’t celebrate Christmas, thankyou for reading this far! I hope you have a good weekend with happy children and stress free moments.

And to everyone, thankyou. This year has been hard, so freaking hard. I truly appreciate everyone who takes the time to read, comment or email with me. From the bottom of my heart, thankyou.

Amy moves too fast for me to take any decent photos of her:

And Isaac, well, he is just cute:

Tomorrow is going to be interesting as Amy and Isaac negotiate toy sharing together. Amy loves Isaac’s toys and spends a lot (A LOT) of time taking them off him and putting them up where he can’t reach them. I’m not sure how long until he gets really frustrated with her, but it’s coming. Prior to Christmas, he’s been stuck sharing Amy’s old toys (yeah, he’s a baby, he didn’t need new stuff) and getting the short end of the stick. Now, he has pretty shiny new (some of it new-to-him secondhand) toys that are HIS and Amy doesn’t like that much.

She’s very three. Everything is hers. Apparently.

I’ll let you know how that goes. If not here, probably twitter.

It’s all quiet here too. Everyone is too stuffed to move! I’m having a quick blog surf before I phone my Mum. As a special treat this year she will be able to talk to both of our boys. I have managed to keep them sober-ish so that they mind their language and do not swear – very old school is my Ma lol!

Glad you’ve had a good day with such a lovely finale. Hopefully tomorrow will be good too 😉

Maybe have a quiet talk with Amy and ask her how she’d feel if Isaac took her new toys? Somehow convince her to not touch what he’s currently playing with. Bribe her with promises of playing with Isaac’s toys only while he is napping? They look so grown up now. I love Amy’s skirt and Isaac’s piggy bank. Did you put a couple of coins in it to rattle?

Veronica December 25, 2009 at 9:37 pm

River – she’s been a little less than reasonable about the sharing. We’ll just have to wait until the novelty wears off I think. The piggy bank comes with giant plastic coins.

merry xmas..

btw how old is Issac now?

Merry Christmas V.

We are all quiet here too. It’s eerie.

The toy negotiating will be fun, I didn’t think a 7 year old and a 6 month old would be interested in each others toys but apparently they are too so a few times today I’ve had to swap the toys back.

Gorgeous photos.

Here’s to a great 2010. XXX

What beautiful lil kiddos… Another year or so, and Isaac will reach everything Amy can. LOL She’d better enjoy it while she can. 😛

Kelley @ Magnetoboldtoo December 26, 2009 at 5:08 pm

sounds like an awesome Christmas to me babe!

Here’s to a freaking wonderful new decade.

Marylin December 26, 2009 at 9:59 pm

Yes, Zack insists on “sharing” all Max’s toys too, although this year he is getting a little better with letting Max play with his too. Maybe that’s more to do with him being entranced with his new DS? I don’t care – I had a QUIET evening last night too! 😀

Totally echo Kelley’s sentiments there – the next decade has *got* to be better than the last, right??

I’m not sure the exact age difference between your two kids (my Anna is 2 years 3 months older than Daniel). She often took on a caretaker role with him and if she wanted one of his toys, would find another one and start a bartering process, as it was important to her to keep him happy. Though the very fact that he is playing with a toy makes it suddenly attractive to her. It’s a continuous struggle as they age and not always about toys, but I think the rewards of having a sibling outweigh the challenges.

Glad you enjoyed the holiday. It’s fun with young kids. It’s so magical for them it can’t help but rub off on me!

Amy has become a much more girly girl than in older pics!

tiff December 27, 2009 at 8:04 am

Happy Christmas to you.

Amy looks lovely and the little guy, oh my ovaries!

Glad that your day was good.

Joyce-Anne December 27, 2009 at 3:46 pm

Merry Christmas! A quiet house, now that is a wonderful gift. I think my gift was the ability to sleep in the day AFTER Christmas…until 10 AM. Whoo-hoo.

Laura McIntyre December 27, 2009 at 7:38 pm

The joys of toy sharing 🙂

Everything my boy gets the girls take and put out his way , he tries to get to it and they freaks.
So he will try to touch something of theres and they freak at him. No wonder he spends all his time just climbing on the bed and off..no shouting for that.
Sucks being the youngest lol

Happy Christmas 🙂

My littlest finally got some new toys for Christmas and I thought be would completely absorbed by them. However he was much more interesting in the vacuum cleaner when I got it out to clean up the mess!

Veronica, I hope that 2010 is a wonderful year for you and the pain of loss eases.

Cheers,
PQ

Merry Christmas! I think that’s a pretty decent photo of Amy…it shows her true spirit, and I can’t believe how much she’s grown!

Andi December 28, 2009 at 9:19 am

I love the picture of Amy twirling – such a darling shot! Merry, Merry Christmas to you and your adorable family!!

Marie December 28, 2009 at 12:22 pm

Best of luck with the whole sharing thing m’dear. Our lives just got immeasurably easier when “santa” brought the 5 year old his own Nintendo DS. *sigh of relief* 😉

And your pics are adorable. I think your pictures of Amy must capture her pretty well. 🙂

And here’s to a better 2010 for you.

Jenni December 28, 2009 at 3:15 pm

And to you Veronica!

Oscar does the same thing w/Miles’s toys – he puts them out of reach. Oscar doesn’t necessarily want to play with them, but he doesn’t want Miles to play with them either. Three is on the horizon.
