Talking about echidnas again.

by Veronica on February 27, 2009

in Life

You remember my echidna? Well, she decided to move in. Under my house to be precise.

And then, a male echidna (he is bigger than the first one, so we are assuming he is a boy) has decided to move in too. He is living under the house as well.

So on the west side, I have a boy. On the east side, I have a girl. It’s destined to be love, right?

The Boy

DUDE. I have ECHIDNAS. Living UNDER MY HOUSE. How cool is that?

Until they dig out the foundations, or have babies, or piss the dog off so her head explodes.

Echidnas. Under my house. Oh dear.

Awesome!!! Yay for the Echidna’s moving in. Also my talented, talented girl that is a truly wonderful photo Vonnie, truly fantabulously, amazingly good. Oh and the holes they dig aren’t that big really..

Ali February 27, 2009 at 10:52 pm

It’s still too awesome. No matter what they do. Oh, and I agree with your Mum on the photo!

You have the neatest wildlife in Australia. I’d love to see an echidna – but you can keep your spiders, you’re welcome!

They are so beautiful! They just wander around and do their thing! I had one when I was living in town wander over from the creek across te road and proceed to dig under the entire fence, then the dog escaped and I had to chase him down the road!!! THEN fix the dirt under the fence again! Two little girls stopped to look and everytime they spoke he dug some more, they made me mad, I asked them to go away 10 times.

Oh how cool is that! I have never seen a real live one let alone have one in my garden – duh! Maybe that’s because I don’t live in Aus / Taz! Seriously though, I think they are really cute – hope they don’t become a nusiance!

Cool pic!

What a cool looking little creature. That said, though, Y’all got some strange critters down there. Between the ‘roo and the wallaby (I always think of ‘wannabe’ when I see that name – you know, wannabe – as in “Daddy, what do you wannabe when you grow up?”) and the platypus (where, really, God must have just been messin’ around). And the Echidna.

I am so jealous of you having echnidnas under your house! lol
I want some too, but I guess that is a long shot as I live in South Africa. (At least I saw a meercat yesterday 🙂
Please continue to update about their love story. Those critters simply have to get it together. I love a happy ending.

Jealous, I am. I love Tassie animals. We just have smelly skunks.

Lovely. What do they eat though? If it’s ants like I think it is, we could do with a couple of echidnas too. Have spent the past couple of days trying to at least reduce the numbers of some very vicious bastards that attack poor hubby whenever I manage to force him outside to do some weeding! So inconsiderate!

We shall expect photos!

If they stay your house will be ant free, lucky you. Perhaps you could set up a common food bowl to encourage love to blossom.

I’ll swap your echidnas under the house for my possums in the roof!

Andi March 2, 2009 at 7:28 am

Totally singing “Muskrat Love” now, but substituting Echidna..

“Echidna Suzie, Echidna Sam…”

So if the house is a rockin’… you might just want to move.
