Fatty Lumps and Dirt

by Veronica on July 9, 2009

in Garden, Headfuck

So firstly, the lump in my breast? It’s just a fatty lump. Nothing to worry about.

Thank GOD. I was really really stressed this morning prior to the ultrasound. [So was Mum. So stressed in fact that she came to the appointment with me and played with Amy in the waiting room] The lump may or may not grow, I’ve just got to keep an eye on it and if it gets bigger, possibly think about removal.

So there. It’s always good to be told that you don’t have breast cancer.

***

I’ve been digging a garden. Sure it’s nearly killed me and somehow I’ve got a bruise that runs from the heel of my hand all the way to my elbow, but it feels good to look outside and see pretty dirt, just waiting for me to plant vegies in it.

So far, I’ve got peas, spinach, parsley, mint, kale and silverbeet planted. Also some mignonette lettuce and broad beans.

It looks good. Fresh. New.

Exactly what I need.

Dirt to centre myself and to cry into if need be.

To say that I was stressed is the understatement of the century. I don’t think that I can even begin to articulate how terrified that lump made me feel. Love you xoxox

oooh ho, i am for one, mightily relieved about the lump. i was holding my breath all day waiting for a yay or nay tweet.

gardening is wonderful therapy. i really wish i was able to.

Oh thank goodness. I was pretty sure it would just be a fatty lump but it’s nice to be sure. I’ve got one on my bum.

Marylin July 9, 2009 at 8:24 pm

SO glad to hear you’re ok re the lump!

*breathes a huge sigh of relief*

I am so with you on the gardening – it’s an awesome way to relieve stress and upset isn’t it?
((hugs)) I bet it will be an awesome garden. 🙂

Yay for fatty lumps! You’re being very industrious with the gardening. Go you!

Alis last blog post..My spellchecker doesn’t work. Does anyone know how to fix it? Also, should I update wordpress? I am afraid of doing it and can’t decide.

phew! I don’t know if you read Crikey or not, but today’s First Dog on the Moon cartoon about breast mice made me think of you – and is (I think) appropriate for your outcome. check it out.

On the garden front, I recommend beetroot – it makes pasta in a hue guaranteed to appeal to young girls – especially when they help to make it 🙂

Thank God about the lump! 🙂
Glad you’ve enjoyed working in the garden. I always find that therapeutic. Wait until those vegies start growing. I can’t have a vegie garden at home because we have a tame guinea fowl and she eats EVERYTHING like that!

I’m SOOOO glad to hear it’s just a fatty lump. Yesterday, my BFF was diagnosed with Grade 3 breast cancer. Honestly, I’m scared… at the same time, though… We’re on a team and we’re going to fight this, and it is conquerable.

Your garden sounds fantastic. It’ll be good when you can sit back and reap the rewards.

Oh dear! I had a mammogram and ultrasound on both sides earlier this year and didn’t tell my mom until after it was over and a clean bill of health was given. I sat in the parking lot of the clinic and cried myself silly when it was all done. Relief!

I’m so glad yours came out clean, too!

*whew*

I don’t know if diet helps this problem or not. Is it “fibrocystic” and are you going to be prone to getting more of them?
