Fruit trees. Also, leggings are not pants.

in Garden

Yesterday after I’d suffered through the gestational diabetes test, I took advantage of the fact that I was in town without my children or Nathan and went shopping. I figured I deserved a reward after sitting for just over an hour in pathology watching all the girls wearing leggings as pants walking in and out.

The highlight was the leggings-as-pants with a hole in the bum, showcasing hot pink underwear. I thought about forgiving her, because she was pregnant, until I remembered that hey, I was pregnant too and still managed to not forget to put on a skirt before I left the house.

So, walking very slowly, I went shopping with my mother. Something neither of us enjoy – but I was buying fruit trees and they’re much nicer to shop for than clothes, or baby fripperies.

This was the very last of our wedding money and Bunnings vouchers (the rest going on the new toilet and grey water system, obviously) and I’m rather pleased that I was able to spend it on trees. I also bought a double grafted apple tree – Cox’s Orange Pippin and Lady in the Snow – from our local nursery.

Of course, this post was meant to be of the freshly planted trees, with photos of grumpy Nathan thrown in somewhere for good measure (he doesn’t like digging holes), but the weather outside looks like this:

Despite being past lunchtime and we’re busy hiding inside, like sensible people.

Ah Winter. I can’t say I’ve missed you.

I’m with you. Even on my worst day I still remember to cover my ass.

I wonder if I’ll ever get to the stage where I can actually nurture a tree to the point it will yield fruit. I’m terribly good at neglecting them right now. Your trees make me want to be a better person.

I have leggings, but they are marketed as leggings you can go out in…AND I wear V long tunics over them anyway…..

good to hear you remembered your skirt today! What a great photo of outside your place….safest place is indoors! smiles from a glorious day in Central QLD!

I always remember my skirt… Have you confused me with someone else?

i those people need an alarm on their front door that screams “PUT ON YOUR CLOTHES” so as not to walk out without them,

hahaha … last week i saw a hand-made, knitted pear with a bell inside – it was a baby’s rattle – maybe fruit trees and fripperies aren’t mutually exclusive 🙂

Oh, I meant as opposed to the other girls this morning! Not a pretty look with just leggings, pregnant or not. I also always have a dress on over my leggings. Also can’t stand when you see a ‘slipped belt’ for a skirt.

Ahhh, that explains it! Hehe.

I remember shopping for fruit trees….I remember giving them all away to the community garden a couple of years later. I miss them, but there’s nowhere for me to have any now. Even my tiny front porch is too tiny.

The fruit trees look awesome!

I have to say I completely disagree with your stance on leggings as pants. Well, that is to say, I accept that they are not pants for you, and that’s cool! I just don’t accept that that particular “leggings are not pants” meme is anything but a unhappy bit of body policing that women do to each other. I even blogged about it a while back. http://playeatlearnlive.blogspot.com.au/2011/11/leggings-as-pants-what-i-want-to-teach.html

Still, it takes all views to make a world, right?

Ahh, can’t say I miss those dreadful glucose tests but those fruit trees look great!

Thank you for the “leggings are not pants” thing…
So true. I’ve been on my own little crusade trying to spread the word.
The hole in the bum comment made me laugh. Too funny.

Click on my name. Check out what I had to say on the matter.
Cheers!

Leggings are not really pants but some people use to call it that way because they think that our lower outfits are all pants which is not typically true. However, famous designers have able to create certain leggings which looks like a pants and it was very nice.

I was horrified on a recent shopping expedition to see a girl wearing not even leggings as pants, but stockings! Stockings! My mind, it hurts.
