My children have an obsession with Peppa Pig. This pink, snorting, grunting, talking pig, has invaded our house.
It started with the very occasional showing on ABC4Kids. Then, they discovered ABC4Kids online and spent hours watching the same episodes, turning the computer back on, every time I turned it off and hiding in corners with my Tablet.
Then they started to act out the episodes.
This is including, but not limited to:
Giant chunks of Peppa Pig, repeated over and over,
Pretending to be the characters (this means Isaac stops talking and starts whining)
Pretending to cry, like George (causing my brain to explode)
and
Creating and jumping in muddy puddles (my poor, poor washing pile)
It’s a bit wearing.
But the biggest problem really, is that every time I watch Peppa Pig, this is all I can see.
It’s a real issue.
Too watched Pinnochio twice a day for a year.
Boo had The Wiggles Movie on loop for FOUR.
I have PTSD when I hear Fruit Salad, Yummy Yummy.
I know nothing at all of Peppa Pig and I’d prefer to keep it that way.
My grandson fell in love with the Mary Poppins movie way back in the days of VHS and borrowed my copy. When I got it back several months later it was quite worn out and my daughter said she never, ever wants to see it in her house again.
THANKS. PEPPA PIG WILL NEVER BE THE SAME AGAIN!
HAHAHAHAHA!!!
I stared at that cartoon for fully 5 minutes before I “got” it!
Not just getting “old” – must be “ancient”!!!
Alexander, ages 2-6 The Wiggles. Nothing but. Every day, all day. Meltdowns when not able to watch. Headbanging, biting himself, turning other inanimate objects (pencils, usually) into The Wiggles and carrying them around everywhere.
Samuel, age 4 Octo-freaking-Naughts
The joys of ASD
I will NEVER be able to watch Peppa Pig again. Ever.
Peppa Pig was the catalyst for the tv free week in our home – which is now unintentionally going into it’s 3rd month – virtually unnoticed by my son!!!
🙂
Urgh, hearing you! Another one to be careful of is the movie Rio. That theme music will go round and round in your head until you start looking for sharp objects
Also the reason Isaac runs around repeating “I’m sorry sleepyhead, but I’m trying to ESCAPE!”
Except it sounds like “I’m sowwy sweepyhead, but I’m twying to escape!” which is sort of cute.
Awww!
We also have the Peppa Pig obsession, my almost 2 year old demands to watch it every time he sees the TV on. I’ve started recording the 4 daily episodes through Foxtel just so I get some variety. I don’t mind watching each episode once because I don’t think Peppa Pig is as corny as some of the others, but my son has his favourites. “Baby Alexander” is the favourite this week. It gets better – I’m even going to attempt to make a Peppa Pig/George birthday cake for his birthday at the end of the month!
And thanks for the cartoon – i can’t look at Daddy Pig the same again ever.
After 2 solid days of Spongebob Square Pants (because the girls are home sick) I told the girls today if Mummy heard Spongebobs voice again she may just confiscate the iPads for the next week.
OMG that squeaky voice drives me to the brink of insanity.
We love Peppa, she supports Tommy’s a charity that works hard to look after pregnant women to ensure they go to term with healthy babies.
It does help to make it more bearable. And spare a thought for us in England, on two channels we have over an hour of Peppa pig back to back twice a day!!!!
You just made me cry laughing.
