Sunday Selections – everything is flowering!

in Garden

The garden, despite the frost a few days ago, it doing rather well. The frost killed off the top leaves on a lot of my plants, but the plants haven’t died, thank God and they’re flowering now.

I’m crossing my fingers that everything goes well from here.

Purple podded pea flowers

Yellow tomato flowers

baby pumpkin with flower still attached

Orb spider sitting in its web

honey bee cleaning its mouth

Climbing bean flowers

Great shots Veronica 🙂 What sort of camera do you have?

Veronica January 9, 2011 at 1:49 pm

I’ve got an entry level DSLR – a Canon 1000D. These were all taken with my 100mm Macro lens.

Yay thanks Veronica. I really like the twining flowers in the bottom shot. What type of bean is that?

Veronica January 9, 2011 at 1:59 pm

I think it’s a purple podded climbing bean? I planted the dregs of last years seeds and very few came up – I think the peas suffocated all the beans I had.

Nice pics 🙂 wish my camera took photos that well lol.

Veronica January 9, 2011 at 1:59 pm

It’s a good camera and an even better lens. I adore it.

Daniel E January 9, 2011 at 2:05 pm

My camera’s just a Sony cybershot, nothing fancy like yours. Keep up the good photos 🙂

Happy Elf Mom January 9, 2011 at 2:02 pm

Wow, wow, WOW!!! You posted some beauts! I’m freezing my tushie off whilst looking at them though… it snowed a little today. 🙂

Veronica January 9, 2011 at 4:05 pm

We’re finally having warm weather. FINALLY.

Jayne January 9, 2011 at 3:57 pm

Love your shots! 🙂
I’ve often heard to leave whatever foliage has been burnt by frost to protect foliage underneath from further frosts.
Love that bean, it’s a glorious colour.

Veronica January 9, 2011 at 4:08 pm

Yep, I’ve heard the same thing.

tiff January 9, 2011 at 6:06 pm

These are all stunning photos. Love the yellows.

Veronica January 9, 2011 at 6:28 pm

Thankyou 🙂

Yikes, spider warning please! Eugh, that is one ugly insect, sends chills up my spine! Great photos, really stunning. (Even the nasty spider!)

Veronica January 9, 2011 at 6:28 pm

Oh yes, whoops!

river January 9, 2011 at 8:39 pm

I was going to mention leaving the frostbitten leaves, but Jayne beat me to it.

Your bean flowers are so very pretty, mine are just yellow and white.
Love the baby pumpkin. Or is it a zucchini? Maybe a cucumber?

I’m envious of the bee photo, I never get that close.
The spider is beautiful.

It’s so great to be able to come to your blog and see spring flowering while we’re int he middle of winter 🙂 BG Xx

Coulda warned me about the spider photo! Though it is a beauty really…

Jean Carroll January 10, 2011 at 1:28 am

Your photos are stunning. The spider looks like he could kill you with a single thought (or is that Darth Vader??), but very beautiful shots. XXX

Jientje January 10, 2011 at 3:47 am

Wow, this makes me long for Summer again, beautiful! Your piuctures are all very good, but my favourite one is the one with the bee! You take pictures of spiders just like your Mom, I love that!

Miss Ash January 10, 2011 at 5:44 am

Fantastic photos! I can’t wait for the warmth and growth to happen in my hemisphere!

Nikki January 10, 2011 at 7:38 am

the purple bean is gorgeous. I got some peachy coloured ones to grow last year.

Barbara January 10, 2011 at 7:50 am

Wow, lovely shots. I hope my garden looks that good in a few months time.

I thought the pumpkin was a courgette – similar flowers?

Jay from The Depp Effect January 24, 2011 at 11:11 am

Beautiful selection!

I think my favourites are the spider, the hoverfly and the zucchini flower! I spent a lot of time last summer photographing hoverflies – they’re such pretty little things!

Great shots. Makes me long for some sunshine. It’s cold and grey, but dry!, over here in the Netherlands. But yesterday I noticed some Alliums peeping through the soil, so Spring is definitely on its way 😉
