This post is sponsored by Bosisto’s and is helping to pay for my plumbing disaster, which is now, thankfully less disastrous and more “slightly muddy”.

I grew up in the bush, surrounded by gum trees. When I was little and wanting to make bouquets of flowers, gum leaves used to feature prominently and through the colder months, they were the only “flowers” I could pick.

I also spent a lot of time walking through the bush, crushing gum leaves in my fingers.

Eucalyptus oil therefore is one of my very favourite smells and we’ve usually got a bottle or two hanging around the house, in use for things like bench scrubbing during the frequent ant plagues, as a rinse aid in the washing machine and my favourite use in Winter, being boiled in a pot of water on the stove to help the small ones breathe easily.

It really is versatile.

That’s why when Bosisto’s asked if I’d like to review their new all purpose eucalyptus spray and some eucalyptus oil, I agreed.

See, we’ve got a cat that likes to pee inside and as many times as I scrub behind the TV, it still smells vaguely funky. So we sprayed behind the TV and it was good. And then the cat tried to pee in the corner again anyway, and so we sprayed her as well. Well, we sprayed near her. She didn’t like the hissing sound OR the smell and I haven’t seen her trying to hide behind the TV since.

Nathan has also been using the oil in the laundry (have I mentioned that Nathan does all of our washing? God I love that man) and the clothes have been coming out smelling divine.

Why yes, I am a sucker for smell.

Because I enjoy the Bosisto’s product so much, they’ve offered me a gift pack worth $160 to give away to you guys.

Doesn’t it look awesome? I’d certainly like to win this one!

I ADORE Bosisto!! Miss 3 is toilet training at the moment and my house smells divine because everything (carpet, shoes, couches) keep needing a good dose of Bosistos spray.

I love how fresh the eucalyptus smells and how “non chemically”

Great giveaway!!

I love the smell of eucalyptus but the best smell in the world is that of a newborn baby. Xo

Vanessa May 26, 2012 at 1:44 pm

How timely! Just this week I bought a bottle of Bosisto’s new Eucalyptus Solution to add to the water when I do the floors and into the laundry when I wash the sheets. But I do adore the smell of freshly baked choc chip cookies in my kitchen!

kelli May 26, 2012 at 1:50 pm

oh my lord, flowering gums, the ocean and an unwashed newborn baby

FlyingDrunkenMonkey May 26, 2012 at 2:50 pm

I love vanilla. Anything vanilla. Candles, baking, sprays anything! Mmm.
Oh and coffee! I used to have a candle that had actual coffee beans in it. Best thing in the world.

Erin May 26, 2012 at 3:43 pm

Vanilla is my favourite of ALL TIME. I bought myself this gorgeous perfume (pink sugar) that smells exactly like fairy floss because I love the sweet smell. Vanilla and sugar. YUM YUM YUM!! Second favourite is Eucalyptus. I put a little on Poppy’s singlet when she’s a bit snuffly, and I love pulling her up to my nose and smelling her. SO GOOD!

Barbara May 26, 2012 at 4:23 pm

Vanilla
(cupcakes)

My all-time favourite aroma is vanilla, closely followed by roasting coffee beans and baking bread.
I do also love the smell of eucalyptus, especially in winter when it helps with snuffly noses, and for the rest of the year I like using the oil to clean gummy glue residue off things and I’ve found it can clean biro or texta marks off clothing and other items, depending on the fabric.

My mum used to put eucalyptus oil on our hankies when I was a kid. We then carried them around with us in our pocket along with an ever present eucalyptus cloud. I’m not sure if it was to prevent colds or help when we did catch one. It was just what she always did. She also plied us with eucalyptus drops which I love to this day. It still reminds me of being a kid and is still a favourite scent.

My favourite scent depends on my mood so it’s hard to pick one. Probably either lemongrass or sandalwood though if you asked me tomorrow it could be anything.

Jude May 26, 2012 at 5:15 pm

My favourite smell just happens to be Eucalyptus!! It reminds me of when I was in kindergarten, my Mother used to put Eucalyptus on my hankie. Every time I smell the smell it takes me back 5 decades. Smell is a wonderful memory jogger!!

Toni May 26, 2012 at 7:28 pm

My Favorite smell is my partners aftershave. I put it on sometimes and spend the whole day trying not to feel myself up. I usually don’t succeed. Makes Uni more interesting.

Caroline May 26, 2012 at 7:32 pm

I love the smell of vanilla or eucalyptus and depending on my mood – orange or ylang ylang.

must remember to try the spray on where the cat has peed. and on the ants….

Caz May 26, 2012 at 9:10 pm

Oh I love these products. I will even overcome my dread for rafflechopper (or whatever its called) to enter 🙂

I love the smell of freshly sun dried sheets when you climb into bed at night and the smell of freshly mowed lawn in the summer time. Oh and the smell of freshly baked bread and freshly made ‘real’ coffee. Hmmm fresh is big with me.

Leah May 26, 2012 at 9:16 pm

My favorite scent has to be vanilla. Yummy.

Miranda May 26, 2012 at 9:36 pm

The back of my son’s neck. Roast chook. The hot-eucalyptus scent of a hot summer’s day.

Joanna May 26, 2012 at 10:24 pm

Freshly ground coffee beans, new-mown grass and the smell of rain just before it falls on the driest of dry Australian summer days.

Eucalyptus is good too because I use it in hot water to breathe again when I get sinus problems!

Troy B May 27, 2012 at 2:13 am

Lilac, coffee, and a sea breeze.

Sarah @fignutmum May 27, 2012 at 6:29 am

Love love love eucalyptus. Always have since I was little. Put it in my washing machine, clean with it, spray the smelly dog with it you name it I do it. Also got a bunch of flowers for mothers day with gum leaf stems in it which smelt better than the flowers!

Fiona May 27, 2012 at 1:15 pm

Mary Preston May 27, 2012 at 3:36 pm

I have a few favourites: hot bread baking, freshly mown grass & rain on hot earth.

I really like lavender!

Kirsa May 28, 2012 at 10:40 pm

Eucalyptus is certainly up there as one of my favorite smells. Especially when I am overseas and homesick. When I was in the UK a few years back, away from my husband and kids, I found a gum tree growing at Project Eden and I had to take a leaf and crush it and inhale its homeliness!

Lyndal May 29, 2012 at 1:30 pm

Oops. I didn’t read carefully enough, and I don’t live in Australia. Please disregard my entry. But please enjoy my contribution to the discussion! Hehe.

Another Australian who loves Eucalyptus!
My mother always wore Paris perfume when we were growing up, so whenever I smell that (or roses, which it mostly is) I think of her. I love rose and lemon geraniums, if I didn’t have a black thumb I would have big pots just outside my door.

manda May 30, 2012 at 10:28 am

Love cinnamon!

Tammy The Multiblogging Mum May 30, 2012 at 8:15 pm

But then the smell of strawberries as a aroma is nice too!

Deb Cashion June 1, 2012 at 1:52 pm

I love the smell of eucalyptus – the cleaners at work use it all the time, it’s up there as one of the good smells. The other good smell that makes me happy is hot, fresh baked bread. They say that’s the smell of heaven, I can understand why.

Jasmine1485 June 1, 2012 at 3:33 pm

I use Bosisto’s Eucalyptus spray so much! 🙂 I used it the other day to take stickers and their gunk off my fridge, I also use to deodorise the bin and I use the regular eucalyptus oil to do steam inhales when I have a cold or hayfever.

My favourite scent is marshmallow, I have this MOR marshmallow body oil that is divine! I can’t stop sniffing it when I have it on. 🙂
